Default [SOLVED] Cannot connect to "localhost: 7633"

I have installed Zimbra desktop, and the first 1 or 2 times I launched it the program worked perfectly - went online, synched with the info on the server, allowed me to enter stuff when offline and then synched it, etc. This was about 3 weeks ago. Now, every time I launch it I get the following error:

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:7633.

What happened? How can I fix it?

    I am running Windows XP.

Could you see if there's any error in the logs files under <install>/log?

    Default doesn't look like it

I looked in "mail.log", there's a lot in there but nothing that looks like an error. Everything in there is dated with the date of the install, but nothing newer than that, i.e. on the date the problems occurred.

I checked the other files in the log folder, and saw no errors. Is there anywhere else to work?

    Default HELP: same issue:

This occurs when powering down the laptop, then powering up and launching desktop Zimbra whether logged in as local user (with admin privileges) or as administrator. However, if I don't power down(or restart) and simply go from local user (first.last name) and simply log off, then login as administrator or log back in as local user... then application runs. Once powered off, then the only way to make Zimbra run again, is to reinstall Zimbra Desktop. Then, it can be opened and closed from the windows desk top all day long, again, even if logout and back in...(just don't restart or power off and on the laptop).

I am running XP on an HP laptop: 5.1 with servicepack 2. I have to reload Zimbra Desktop to get info on it... (but I downloaded it 2 days ago from Zimbra site). Our President, running Vista, does not have this issue?

Any help will be much appreciated...

    thx

    Welcome to the forums,
Just after you finish powering back up does windowskey-r (run) > services.msc > zimbra desktop service stop/start help?
    Some logs would be nice...

Sorry to be a novice, but where does one execute this from : (web brower, or window program "run" pop up?):

    windowskey-r (run) > services.msc > zimbra desktop service stop/start

    and;

    run zmcontrol -v

    thx

Default ooops forgot log file... from yesterday

...however, maybe the problem is that zimbra date is off by a day as compared to windows date??? zimbra log file shows 2/27/08 when windows date was 2/28/08

    thx

I had the same issue and it was because "Zimbra Desktop Service" was not started on my computer.

For Windows, right-click on "My Computer" and select "Manage". You should then see "Services and Applications" in the tree view on the left. Expand the tree and click on "Services", then look for the "Zimbra Desktop Service".

If it does not list it as "Started", then right-click the service and choose "Start".

    Hope this helps...
