Default Unable to install on Ubuntu 7.04 64-bit

    Hi all,

I'm checking out Zimbra for the first time, and can't even get it installed. I have an AMD64 box running Kubuntu 7.04 (Feisty). I am trying to install Zimbra zcs-4.5.6_GA_1044.UBUNTU6.tgz, but get an error after the depency checks:

    root@zimbra:~# uname -a
    Linux zimbra 2.6.19-4-generic-amd64 #2 SMP Thu Apr 5 05:57:13 UTC 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    root@zimbra:~/zcs# ./install.sh

I'm guessing that the problem is that the .debs are i386, not x86_64. Does this make sense?

If this is the case what are my options? Thanks in advance!

    Yeah, makes sense.
So the build you got was 32-bit, and not the OS you're running.

There may be a way around this, but we don't recommend it because it can (and will) cause problems.

Do you know how to build from source? That would be better

Thanks for the reply! I was afraid that I would have to build from source, which I can do. The problem is that I only see the trunk in the SVN repository. How can I get stable source, rather than the bleeding edge code? Thanks!

Follow the links for the normal releases, well where you got your current ubuntu package I guess, there are source tarballs for the last couple of stable releases alongside.

good luck on your journey, it's 'fun' building from source!
