I am trying to install Zimbra on a second machine so I can test backups of the primary instance in order to upgrade it. However, when I install it, I can't get tomcat to start successfully.

The catalina.out file contains:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine.

There are comments in the forums about the redo.log file needing to be owned by zimbra and not root, but there is nothing in the redolog directory at all. The directory is owned by Zimbra however.

The machine is pretty beefy - 4 Gig of RAM running RHEL-4.

The memory configuration for tomcat is as follows:
[zimbra@localhost ~]$ zmlocalconfig | grep mem
mysql_memory_percent = 50
tomcat_java_heap_memory_percent = 50

I did see a recommendation that mysql needed to be under 2 Gig, so I tried tuning the mysql_memory_percent parameter down to 30%, but that didn't help either.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can look at next?
