Default Writing to a Contacts IMAP folder

I just stumbled upon SyncKolab for Thunderbird. It seems like the perfect solution for getting two-way contact synchronizing working for Zimbra/Thunderbird. However, there is one very important snag - the contacts folders visible over IMAP are read-only.

Is there any way to enable writing to the contacts folder on Zimbra? If not, is this something that might be planned. I haven't been able to find much regarding this in the forums, wiki, or bugzilla.

    Thanks!
    - Phil

PS: I don't use it, but supposedly this same extension will allow one to sync calendar entries if Lightning is installed.

There's no way at present to allow write access to the contact folders. Please add a request in bugzilla if you'd like to see it!

Also, can you give us a link towards the part of the SyncKolab documentation where it explains the format it uses for contacts via IMAP?

Well, the only information I can find is the link I included above (http://www.gargan.org/extensions/synckolab.html). It supports vCards as well as some sort of Kolab-specified XML format. It actually reads the contacts from the server perfectly, and is able to generate a Thunderbird address book using them.

    I'll place a bugzilla RFE.
