I'm seeing a weird problem and was wondering if anybody had any ideas.
My mailbox on the server is firstname.lastname@example.org.... The server accepted an email today for email@example.com and delivered it to the firstname.lastname@example.org mailbox. I looked and I have no alias for "bradb". What is the deal? This email should have been rejected as non existent account?
EDIT: After looking at logs on my spam gateway... I've come up with the following. Before my gateway accepts email from the internet will do address verification against the MTA. In the past when I was running Postfix as my MTA if the mailbox did not exist it would tell the gateway that when it did the check and my gateway would reject the email. What looks to be happening now is that my gateway checks to see if the mailbox is valid and Zimbra seems to answer back that is is valid, and then when my gateway passed the email on to the MTA I see a bounce in the /var/mail/log on my Zimbra server.
