Default migrating to a new server

I am migrating to a new server and upgrading at the same time. Should I first upgrade the installation. Should I upgrade zimbra first and then backup the /opt directory and move it to the new server or should I move it and then upgrade it.

    thanks,
    Adam

    Default 4.5.6 upgrade

After I upgraded this weekend I get this error when I restart the zimbra service

id: cannot find name for group ID 13457
id: cannot find name for group ID 13457

I am just curious if this is something to worry about because everything seems to be working.

    thanks,
    Adam

Both servers should be running the same version.
So the choice is yours. . .as long as they're running the same version at the time of the backup/restore.

Check your permissions on /etc/group and /etc/passwd.
(If their ok - Is 13457 anywhere in that file? /post the content around it)

    Wink Fixed Id issue

    So I was getting the:

id: cannot find name for group ID 13457

Because for some reason my /etc/group file was had the wrong permissions on it and was only readable by the owner.

    so that isn't good

    Default next issue after upgrade

everything is working except the spell check.

    antispam Running
    antivirus Running
    ldap Running
    logger Running
    mailbox Running
    mta Running
    snmp Running
    spell Stopped
    zmapachectl is not running

I have made sure that the /etc/hosts file is correct and that the /etc/sysconfig/network is the same. when I try and start zmapachectl is says it is already running.

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Adam

well that makes for a heck of a catch 22 - anything in /opt/zimbra/log/httpd.pid ?
If there is- grep your running processes for it and try killing it -does it let you start it then?

start checking /tmp/install.log (obviously the one with the most recent date)

    Default confusing

So I killed the process and then I get this:

    [root@mailhost bin]# ./zmapachectl status
    ./zmapachectl: line 51: kill: (2872) - No such process
    [root@mailhost bin]# ./zmapachectl start
(98): make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:7780
no listening sockets available, shutting down
    Unable to open logs

    any ideas?

    run as zimbra user

    [zimbra@mailhost bin]$ zmcontrol status
    Host mailhost.circlepix.com
    antispam Running
    antivirus Running
    ldap Running
    logger Running
    mailbox Running
    mta Running
    snmp Running
    spell Stopped
    zmapachectl is not running
    [zimbra@mailhost bin]$ zmapachectl status
    /opt/zimbra/bin/zmapachectl: line 51: kill: (2872) - No such process
    [zimbra@mailhost bin]$ zmapachectl start
(98): make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:7780
no listening sockets available, shutting down
    Unable to open logs

    thanks for you help,
    Adam

Is it possible the process went zombie, and is still bound to that port? Is there anything bound to that port?
