    Default [SOLVED] Merging Backups

    Hi All,

haven't posted on here for sometime as everything has been running pretty smoothly with Zimbra.

However something weird happened a few days ago. My entire Inbox disappeared! What I mean is, my Inbox was suddenly empty!

i have a few theories about what happened, none of them Zimbra's fault and most of them my own

But now I want to get my account back as it was.

I restored the backup of my account, (from the night before), to an alternative account several days ago. I have carried on using my main account in the meantime and have received subsequent mail into this account.

So, whats the best way to get my old mail back from the restored account into my main account without simply overwriting and replacing everything with a full restore?

    CentOS 4.4, Network Edition 4.5.6_GA_1024.RHEL4.

    Thanks Guys

    Russ

    Wow
How did that happen? Do you have a pop client sitting somewhere?

There is no way to merge backups. Sorry

If you can restore, you can type
    http://domain.com/service/home/~/inbox.zip

You can download your old inbox into a zip file.

Then, just zmlmtpinject to import them back in.

    Basically, yes!

I was testing a nice piece of software called 'WebhelpDesk' and I think I had it set to receive mail as POP3!

    That should do it though.

So, just zip the Inbox that I need and just zmlmtpinject it back into the correct account yes?

    Thanks

    Yup!

You could also open a thick-client like thunderbird and copy the inbox/folders from restoredaccount>local then local>mainaccount.
For the dates to be correct, make sure you append "/tb" to the username you put in your thunderbird IMAP profiles.

or if their on 2 different mailstores copy restoreaccount>mainaccount
    or use imapsync

    Thanks Guys,

I took the easy option and imported the INBOX through Thunderbird as suggested.

    Back to normal now.

Thanks for all your help with this.

Your welcome, it was 3am and for the life of me I couldn't remember if it was /tb or just /t but finally remembered
