    Default [SOLVED] zmprov change ZimbraMailPort silently fails

    Hi,

    Here's the commands I'm running (mail.mydomain.com is an example.. my real domain is not included).

    $ zmprov ms mail.mydomain.com ZimbraMailPort 8080
    $ zmprov GetAllConfig | grep zimbraMailP
    $ zimbraMailPort: 80

    I try this direct to LDAP instead of via SOAP and I get the same thing

    $ zmprov -l ms mail.mydomain.com ZimbraMailPort 8080
    $ zmprov GetAllConfig | grep zimbraMailP
    $ zimbraMailPort: 80

    I also tried another port such as 82 without success.

    I need to move the port to something other than 80 today because I'm planning a migration from the Open Source edtion to the Network Edition this evening.

    Has anyone got another workaround or solution for changing the HTTP port number that Zimbra listens on when in HTTP or Mixed Mode (I think that in earlier testing Zimbra still checks to see if Port 80 is available even if Zimbra is forced into HTTPS mode only).

    My versions are: Open Source Zimbra 4.5.6 GA 1044 on Ubuntu 6.0.1 LTS. and I'm moving this to Zimbra 4.5.6 Network Edition on RH ES 5

    thanks

    Mark

    Just curious if you restarted zimbra as part of your process?
    su zimbra
    zmprov ms mail.mydomain.com ZimbraMailPort 8080
    zmcontrol stop
    zmcontrol start
    zmprov GetAllConfig | grep zimbraMailP
    BTW, after changing zimbraMailPort or zimbraMailSSLPort you may need to regenerate the zimbraMtaAuthURL: SMTP Auth Problems - ZimbraWiki

    Hi Mike,

    I did try restarting Zimbra but it didn't make any difference (I should have mentioned this). So... I abandoned the idea of using HTTP on a different port and went back to using HTTPS. This allowed me to move forward with the migration from Open Source to Network Edition.

    I have run into 2 problems but I will post a separate topic on these 2 migration issues.

    thanks

    I have just moved over from the OS edition to the NE edition and I'm running into exactly the same problem with other ZMPROV commands. Note that I am also troubleshooting a SOAP issue so I am having to use ZMPROV with the -l option at the moment.

    This time I am trying to modify the following:

    zimbraBackupReportEmailRecipients: admin@mail.mydomain.com

    and this command silently fails (a restart after making the change does not help). Here's the command that I'm using as the zimbra user.

    zmprov -l ms mail.mydomain.com zimbraBackupReportEmailRecipients admin@mydomain.com

    This is problem has now transferred from one system to another having just migrated from the OS edition to the NE edition. ZMPROV just doesn't seem to be able to make any changes.....

    Any ideas?

    thanks

    Could you open a support ticket so that someone from zimbra can take a look?

    Mike...

    It's actually resolved.

    I was working with support on another issue and to resolve that problem the LDAP password was reset. Later on I came back and ran zmprov and noticed all the changes I had been trying to make had actually been applied...including the ZimbraMailPort change that I had tried to apply before the migration to NE and the new server. I can't say I understand it but the problem now seems resolved.

    thanks - Mark
