Default [SOLVED] Not able to receive or send mail

    Hi All,
After 100 attempts to install Zimbra I finally got it to work for me... I am just now testing things out. My problem now is:

    - I am not able to send or receive emails. I sent a test email from my gmail account to a account created on zimbra and not seeing mail when I login to the webmail as that user.

Also, sent email from zimbra webmail to my gmail account and gmail not getting email.

However, I check zimbra webadmin mail queues and I see the email as being deferred. Not sure what's happening as I am new to using Zimbra.

    - The other problem I have is that I can't seem to access webmail via client browser using https. I can only access my webmail via http.... Any thoughts how to fix this. I'd like all logins to work via https. FYI, I have all proper ports open for https, http, mail, pop, etc...

Would appreciate any comments/suggestions to help resolve the above.

    Joe

You may just need to change the mode:
    su zimbra
zmtlsctl mode (replace mode with https, mixed, or both) descriptions are here: CLI zmtlsctl to set Web Server Mode - ZimbraWiki
    zmcontrol stop
    zmcontrol start

Hi Mike, thanks for your reply and comments below. I was able to get the https to work with your commands below...

As you suggested, I checked my logs /var/log/zimbra.log to get clues as to why I am not able to send & receive emails. Below is what I got from the logs:

    Code:

Based on the error logs above, I hope someone can help give me tips on what to fix. I am not experience yet enough to know what the errors above mean. Thanks in advance for any help!!!

    Could you post your amavisd.conf.in?
-I know manage attachments might need some work, so you could put it somewhere like http://pastebin.com/

Also, add your version information to your profile so we don't have to ask all the time in the future (it makes a difference sometimes on what commands we give).
    via the command line:
    Code:
    su zimbra
    zmcontrol -v
or in the main search bar of the web-client enter:
    Code:
    $set:get version
http://www.zimbra.com/forums/profile.php?do=editprofile > about halfway down the page 'additional information' > zimbra version blank

Hi Mike, Just uploaded the info you requested to pastin under name JoeLeonard... Hope you can see it - Never used that service before.

Also, I update my profile with my zimbra version being used. Here it is for quick reference: Release 4.5.7_GA_1319.UBUNTU6 UBUNTU6 FOSS edition

Please see if you can see the file I uploaded - Thanks for your help.

Question: In the past I had made a postfix install and from what I recall I may need to go to a file and specify the local networks on my local lan that will send and receive emails. I am wondering if I need to do something similar with Zimbra.

    Waiting for you feedback!

    Joe

a quick link to the pastebin page would be easier...
(we'll fix the 'manage attachments' functionality in the forums shortly)

Anything on your local lan/subnet should be accepted by default - else see:

Turns out you can't easily search by username & the recent posts scrolls pass too fast with no links to a 'history'
(Thus I can't find it, you'll have to post the link with the random numbers on the end/paste it again.)

But I did make the private bin http://zimbra.pastebin.com if you want to use that or make your own http://joeleonard.pastebin.com/
*simply just tack a sub-domain on the front and it automatically creates it

Mike, here is the link: pastebin - collaborative debugging tool

Also, per your links below, I modified zimbra to include my remote networks to relay mail for. But that did not make any difference yet as I still can't send/receive emails.

Question: Can I try to send an email directly from the Zimbra server?

    Here's my postconf network config:
    zimbra@mx1:~$ postconf mynetworks
    mynetworks = 127.0.0.0/8 192.168.1.100 192.168.2.0/24

Per above, my zimbra server host is 192.168.1.100 and I am sending email from remote network 192.168.2.10... So, is the postconf above correct.

Please, I would appreciate any further comments/suggestions to help me fix this problem!

    Joe

(!!)TROUBLE in check_mail: parts_decode_ext FAILED: Unix utility file(1) not available, but is needed at (eval 54) line 113.
get's me thinking that a file residing somewhere in the below path has the wrong permissions or something...
    from your amavisd.conf.in $path = '/opt/zimbra/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin';
it's a shot in the dark, but you could run the fix permissions script:
    (as root)
    cd /opt/zimbra/libexec/
    ./zmfixperms

To me this error message is saying that the UNIX executable "file" is missing from the system, or not in the Zimbra PATH for some reason. I'd execute a 'find / -name file' as root to see if it is on the system.
