Default The dreded DNS Error resolving for MX message during install

    Hello,

I am having a heck of a time with the dreded DNS Error resolving for MX message during my installation of the latest version of 64 bit Zimbra that I am installing on a minimum install command line only type of CentOS 5 64bit. I have been reading and attempting different things for 6 hours now and this is what I have come up with

If you are behind a NAT device then you need a Split DNS setup.

    Default Split DNS ...

    Hello Bill,
Thanks for the quick reply. I have looked at the Split DNS and it does not seem that easy. Well that is that my Centos 5 (RHEL 5) 64 Bit does not have the file locations in the same place etc. Is there any easier instructions?? Is there any other way around it. I have configured 5 zimbra servers (Centos 4 Std 32bit) without having to configure split dns. Is this something specific to 64 bit??
    Thanks Again!!

It is easy, you need to configure a local DNS server with A & MX records pointing to the Zimbra server, just follow the wiki guide . If you have a server on a private IP, 192.168.x.x in your case above, then Zimbra (postfix) cannot resolve it's IP address via DNS, that's why you get the DNS error during install.
    Regards

    Bill
