    Default [SOLVED] Main menu issues

    Hi everybody

    Zimbra is WONDERFUL !!!

I've successfully installed Zimbra Open Source Edition on a Ubuntu server 6.06 test machine, following these two (great) tutorials:

Ubuntu 6.06 Server (Dapper Drake) Beginner's Install Guide

How To Install Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) On Ubuntu

Now I can send and receive emails by web client...
    ....but I've this problem:

I can't check my email by any IMAP clients !!!!
(Thunderbird and Outlook Express tested on default 143 IMAP port, without SSL mark)

DO I need to enable POP/IMAP proxy?

In fact, in the installation on the point 6 (zimbra-store) of the main menu, I left "Enable POP/IMAP proxy: no"
How can I access by bash to the Main Menu once I've finished the installation process?

As U can see,I'm Linux/zimbra newbie so sorry if my question is not clear...

    Thanks in advance

    Welcome to the forums,
If this is a single server setup you should not be using the proxy.
    In a terminal:
    su - zimbra
zmprov gs server.domain.com | grep Imap
    & post the output
(Can you telnet to those ports at all?)

While you're responding to Mike's suggestion you might also check two other things:

    1) Try using secure IMAP (993) instead of 143. I think the non-secure login may be disabled by default.

    2) Do you have any sort of router/firewall between your clients and your server? There's a chance that the required ports aren't open or aren't routing.

    Cheers,

    Dan

Thank U for such a quick answer !!!

my lan is organized in this way:

    internet
    |
    |
    IPCop---------------dmz--------test mail server (Zimbra)
    |
    |
    LAN

I've "port forwarded" the following ports on IPCop:
    110 (POP3)
    25(SMTP)
    21(FTP)
    143(IMAP)
    443(HTTPS)
    389(LDAP)
    993(IMAP - SSL)
    995(POP3 - SSL)

and now I can use my email clients by IMAP !!!
The problem was resolved setting 993 and SSL mark in the mail clients.

Now I can have fun with Zimbra !!

    Cheers from Milan
