Go ahead and take out imps out of the hosts file.

Next, the issue really isn't that there's a connection refused error. That's a symptom of ldap not starting. LDAP isn't starting because there's no cert. There's no Cert because it was never created. There's no Cert because the hosts file is wrong.

Can you completely remove your install and reinstall? (./install.sh -u)

I'm not saying it won't happen again, but we need a fresh slate.

    Code:
    ls -l /opt/zimbra/conf/ca
    ls -l /opt/zimbra/conf/slapd.crt
    ls -l /opt/zimbra/conf/slapd.key
I'm guessing the last two don't exist.

I sorry to say but all three are not there.

    Please run
    Code:
    /bin/bash -x zmcertmgr deploycrt self
    If that fails, please run
    Code:
    zmfixperms
    And then run zmcertmgr again.

That looks wrong to me. For example on my RHEL5 box:

    Code:
    cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5 (Tikanga)
Why isn't there a RH bit in yours? And why is "Enterprise Linux" twice? I suggest fixing it to be

    Code:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.1 (Carthage)
And then see if get_plat_tag.sh returns it as a known platform.
