    Unhappy Install under Solaris 10

    Hello everyone.

I try to install in 3 days, a version of Zimbra in 5.0.3 for solaris x86 (zcs-5.0.3_GA_2005.SOLARIS10_i386.TEST8.FRANKLIN.tgz).
During installation everything goes well, but at the time of launch services, the service mta does not start.

    I get this error:

    Starting snmp...Done.
    Starting spell...Done.
    Starting mta...FAILED
Mv: Unable to access / opt/zimbra/conf/postfix_header_checks.6kaO_C.db
    Ld.so.1: / opt/zimbra/cyrus-sasl-2.1.22.3z/sbin/saslauthd: fatal: libresolv.so.2: `SUNW_2.2.1 'Found (required by the / opt / zimbra / heimdal -1.0.2/lib/libroken.so.18)
Ld.so.1: / opt/zimbra/cyrus-sasl-2.1.22.3z/sbin/saslauthd: fatal: libresolv.so.2: failure of the opening: This file or directory does not exist

    Zmsaslauthdctl failed to start
but the libresolv.so.2 is in my /usr/lib directory.
My syslogd daemon also uses 85% of my cpu

It is specific to Solaris?, Have you ever met this problem?
If so, how did you resolve it ?

    Thanks for your answers.

    Hi nemesix

Which release of Solaris are you using? It was compiled on u4 and I have had one other report with the same error as you from u2 (and a similar one from Solaris Express). Looks like libresolv is versioned, I'll have to remove this dependency in the next build as obviously we can't release a seperate installer for each solaris release..

Sorry about that, for now you will have to install on the latest Solaris release.

As for syslogd crunching cpu, is there a log file that is filling up quickly? Solaris syslog doesn't support '-' prefix for asynchronous writes that makes Linux syslog run so quickly.

    Hello dijichi2,

I use Solaris 10 3/05. I haven't apply the recommended patch. Do you think I must retreive the last version or apply the patchs ?

You have compilated your release on u4, where I can get this version ?

    Thanks

    u4 is the 8/07 release:
Solaris Operating System - Get Solaris 10

I think you must upgrade rather than just patch. You should *always* *always* be fully patched, regardless of what version you are on. Depending on how familiar with solaris you are, you could try a live upgrade, or else just pop the disk in and perform upgrade.

Apologies, this is a bad limitation of the current release - it will be removed for TEST9.

Sorry can you confirm you actually have libresolv installed?

Ld.so.1: / opt/zimbra/cyrus-sasl-2.1.22.3z/sbin/saslauthd: fatal: libresolv.so.2: failure of the opening: This file or directory does not exist
    ls -l /lib/libresolv.so.2

And then make sure you're fully patched, I have a feeling this will update libresolv with the necessary api.

    Hello,

Sorry I can't verify this before Tuesday, because I am on leave.

I checked whether libresolv.so was in /usr/lib, but not in /lib. I have tried after, to make many symbolic link with any success.

I can tell you that Tuesday, or I can make a virtual machine on my personal computer to verify.

    Thanks again
