    Default IM Firefox Plugins

Sorry, I got this in the wrong place... should be in the ZCS installation or admin... Could someone please move it?

    Zimbra FOSS 5.0.4
    Ubuntu 6.0xx LTS

Immediately after enabling IM we started getting "Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page" in Firefox.

The message indicates that Apple Quicktime is the plugin that is missing. While this was already installed on my computer, I upgraded to the newest version, rebooted, etc. and still get the message.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

I have a slightly different question, but on the same subject: Why do I need to have QuickTime installed to use the IM feature? This doesn't make sense to me.

    Thank you

I would assume it's embedding sounds for IM events, in Firefox the default plugin for embedded sounds is Quicktime.

Well old topic, wondered if anyone has found a work around? The sounds play fine in my Internet Explorer, and I will not install Quicktime just to hear .wav files in FF3. I do have the Media Player Plugin, but I can't figure how to add a new MIME type to FF3. Getting sound working would be a major plus.

Has there ever been an answer to this? I have been having this too. Can't make it go away.

IE naturally "works" with Windows Media Player while FF does not.

If you want notification sounds in IE, you just need WMP (which is often setup/installed by default).

If you want notification sounds in FF, you currently need QuickTime...
Maybe the WMP plugin for FF could work, try at the bottom of this page : https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/browse/type:7

Thanks. Just installed Quicktime directly, rather than the FF plugin, and everything seems to work. I had been using QuickTime Alternative for a video app I was running, and I think that may have caused an issue.
