    Default [SOLVED] Problem w/ split DNS on Ubuntu 6.06

    I followed the steps on the bind9 install for Ubuntu exactly, changing only mydomain.com to a different name. Not working. I would really appreciate any insight offered. This is 5.0.5

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    cat /etc/bind/named.conf
    options {
    directory "/var/cache/bind";

    query-source address * port 53;

    forwarders {
    71.242.0.12; 71.252.0.12;
    };

    auth-nxdomain no; # conform to RFC1035

    };

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    cat /etc/bind/db.otechmail.com
    ; BIND data file for otechmail.com
    ;
    $TTL 604800
    @ IN SOA mail.otechmail.com. admin.otechmail.com. (
    090727 ; Serial
    604800 ; Refresh
    86400 ; Retry
    2419200 ; Expire
    604800 ) ; Negative Cache TTL
    ;
    @ IN NS mail
    IN MX 10 mail
    IN A 10.63.60.86
    mail IN A 10.63.60.86
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    cat /etc/hosts
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    10.63.60.87 mail.otechmail.com mail

    You need to tell named what the zone is and where the file is. See this blog post:

    Using dnsmasq was ridiculously easy compared to the BIND setup. I recommend for anyone searching for answers to external LDAP problems that they configure Zimbra with it's own LDAP initially and then solve LDAP problems via the web Admin GUI.

    From your experiences perhaps you could write a Wiki article on this ?

    Found this in a old post from Klug which should help others if they wish to use DNSmasq instead :- In a DNS bind? Get Out with dnsmasq
