    Unhappy help with installation

Hi Forum, we just got Zimbra and we're looking to start it.

However I encountered some problems with LDAP, since still I have problems I ask if someone could help me.

I'm installing Zimbra last version on Debian 4.

    My setup is:

Router with public IP (for ex. 222.222.222.222) and behind that
server where I want zimbra installed (ex. 192.160.111.201).
the public ip il linked with domain name (ex. www.mydomain.org)
the hostname of the machine would be zimbra-groupware.

    now:
    - How do I setup the hosts file?
    - what do I put as hostname for LDAP (that's the problem!)
    - what IP use in configuration? the internal or the external/domain?

Often it says that cannot connect to LDAP and also that the dns records for the domain are different (from the internal IP address - that's sure).

Usually I'm not so dumb but in last 3 month I'm sleeping about 4 hours every night (little kid that doesnt sleep.. a nightmare ).

    Thanks in advance!!!!!
    McLois

    Welcome to the forums.

As you are behind a router you'll need to set-up a Split DNS so Postfix can resolve it's internal IP.

Details of the /etc/hosts file can be found on this documentation page. Which operating system are you install on? Any further questions, just ask.
    Regards

Great! I'll try the split DNS and I'll let you know.
By the way I'm using debian 4, but I'm thinking to move to Redhat since all official documents talk of that (what do you think? is it worth?).
    Thanks for now,
    McLois

My choice would be CentOS5, I use it as do many of the forum members. If you're a Network Edition customer then you'd need a supported platform for installing Zimbra.
