After you run tomcat start, and it dies, are you sure nothing further gets written to catalina.out?
Also, anything in /var/log/messages around this time?
It doesn't seem to start, I cleared out the catalina.out file and tried again, see below:
    Code:

Nothing exciting in /var/log/messages and as you can see, nothing showing in catalina.out besides what was already posted.

Picked up the following in /var/log/zimbra.log when doing a zmcontrol start:
    Code:
Mar 1 23:31:31 mail postfix/postfix-script: warning: not owned by root: /opt/zimbra/postfix-2.2.5/conf/main.cf
Mar 1 23:31:31 mail postfix/postfix-script: starting the Postfix mail system
    Mar 1 23:31:31 mail postfix/master[6902]: daemon started -- version 2.2.5, configuration /opt/zimbra/postfix-2.2.5/conf
Tried chown'ing the file but restarting zimbra seems to change the owner back again.
Here is a dump of /var/log/messages showing status followed by a zmcontrol stop, then zmcontrol start, then status then a tomcat start and a final status:
    Code:
    mail:/opt/zimbra # tail -F /var/log/messages

Is there a good way to do that. I can run superscan against the server but won't that only show that there is something listening and not really what it is? Apparently there's nothing listening on those ports:

    Hope I did this right.

I found another thread in the forum regarding certificates, where u (Marmac) told someone to do this:
    Code:
    as root:
    cd ~zimbra
    mv ssl foo
    mkdir ssl
    chown zimbra ssl

    as zimbra:
    zmcreateca
    zmcreatecert

    find ssl/

    Should have:
    ssl/
    ssl/ssl
    ssl/ssl/ca
    ssl/ssl/ca/ca.pem
    ssl/ssl/ca/ca.srl.old
    ssl/ssl/ca/ca.key
    ssl/ssl/ca/ca.csr
    ssl/ssl/ca/ca.srl
    ssl/ssl/zmssl.cnf
    ssl/ssl/cert
    ssl/ssl/server
    ssl/ssl/server/tomcat.crt
    ssl/ssl/server/server.csr
    ssl/ssl/server/tomcat.csr
    ssl/ssl/server/server.key
    ssl/ssl/server/server.crt
    ssl/ssl/newCA
    ssl/ssl/newCA/index.txt
    ssl/ssl/newCA/newcerts
    ssl/ssl/newCA/newcerts/02.pem
    ssl/ssl/newCA/index.txt.old

    zmcertinstall mailbox
    zmcertinstall mta ssl/ssl/server/server.crt ssl/ssl/server/server.key
I tried this and got a couple of errors
    Code:
    mail:~ # cd ~zimbra
    mail:/opt/zimbra # mv ssl foo
    mail:/opt/zimbra # mkdir ssl
    mail:/opt/zimbra # chown zimbra ssl

You'll need to clean up the keystore, first, and then recreate the certs. Check wiki.zimbra.com for info on this.

Default ...and there was much confusion???

Um, I found two results in the wiki for "keystore". I went with the Self Signed Certificate Instructions. The confusion comes where when I try
    Code:
keytool -delete -alias my_ca -keystore /opt/zimbra/tomcat/conf/keystore -storepass zimbra
I get an error saying that the my_ca alias doesn't exist. However, when I do the
    Code:
    zmcreatecert
I get an error saying alias "my_ca" already exists. Then when I do the
    Code:
    zmcertinstall mailbox ssl/ssl/server/server.crt
I get that same error the public and keystore not matching. Am I doing the wrong thing? Is there a specific article in the Wiki that you had in mind?
