Default Installation Problem - Possibly LDAP

    Hi there

Just started playing with Zimbra over past couple of days.
    Some details
    =========
Using the Network edition on Red Hat Enterprise.
Internal(Private IP) address of Zimbra: 10.0.0.8
I have an mx record setup for my testing site mail.mydomain.com pointing to External IP address on our Firewall 83.245.69.36.
I port forward all traffic on port LDAP(389), SMTP(25) and LMTP(24) from 83.245.69.36 to 10.0.0.8

    I install Red Hat
    Stopped Sendmail as required
    chkconfig sendmail off
    service sendmail stop

Checked my host file which displays the following
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    83.245.69.36 mail.mydomain.com mail

    Then I start the installation
    [root@mail zcs]# ./install.sh

    Operations logged to /tmp/install.log.10733

    Default

    change your /etc/hosts to be

    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    10.0.0.8 mail.myguidetravel.com mail

and is there an A record for mail.myguidetravel.com pointing to 83.245.69.36?

    Default It Worked

    Hi Bobby

How could I have been so stupid.
I just setup the MX record on Monday.
I installed everything, and it was a text case install, I got no errors.
So I decided to setup on another Computer, just to be sure it wasn't a fluke, thats when I ran into the problems.
I did look at the host file when I setup, and remember remarking it was cleaver that my public ip address was put in there automatically, but did it dawn on me that it should be my private address? No of course it didn't.

Anyway I killed LDAP and Zimbra processes.
    Did a install.sh -u
Set the IP in host to my private as you suggested
Reinstalled again and everything is up and running

Thanks for saving me a bunch of time, I really appreciated it.

    Default etc/hosts configuration

    Hi bobby,

I want to configure my etc/hosts file but I dont know what I should write in it. I guess the firts line is common, but in the second...I should write my ip address and then my domain?

    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    ********* mail.myguidetravel.com mail

****-> means my IP, and instead of mail.myguidetravel.com I should write my domain?

    Thanks on advance,

    Felipe

Did you look at the Zimbra Quick Start Guide that I mentioned in a previous reply to you? That has the full details of what you should have in your hosts file.
