Performance Tuning Guidelines for Large Deployments - Zimbra :: Wiki

Though from what you have posted you are already reserving 66% of the memory. Though the defaults should be :-

    Code:
    su - zimbra
    zmlocalconfig -e tomcat_java_options="-client -XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Djava.awt.headless=true -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=1 -XX:+UseParallelGC"
    zmcontrol shutdown ; zmcontrol start

So the settings seem OK then?

Until that memory upgrade, I have been assured it was correctly working ram, it had worked fine without ever getting this error.

    Thanks Uxbod

According to the docs the commands I have posted above should set a 4.5 release to defaults. Worth a try

    Code:
    su - zimbra
    zmcontrol shutdown
    zmlocalconfig -e tomcat_java_heap_memory_percent=40
    zmcontrol start
I reckon it is because the JVM is trying to use more that 3GB RAM with it currently being set @ 66%.

    Uxbod!!

    That's it!

I think you have cracked it, all services have restarted. It thought it had to be the ram somehow!

If you are ever in Maldon , Essex, UK I'll buy you a drink!!

I am however still having trouble with ClamAV unfortunately:

    antispam Running
    antivirus Stopped
    amavisd running pid: 21569
    zmclamdctl is not running
    ldap Running
    logger Running
    mailbox Running
    mta Running
    snmp Running
    spell Running
    stats Running

    After restarting.

I have tried disabling the Antivirus but a lot of mail seems to be getting caught by Amavis according to the Admin console.
I will refer back to the suggestion by Mmorse about ClamAV.

    Thanks mate

    Our deferred cue has just jumped up to 783 messages and the latest says;

delivery temporarily suspended, connect to mailserver [Mailserver IP address]: connection refused.

This is with Antivirus service turned off but Spam on.

    What have I missed Guys?

    Thanks

Okay. What mmorse has said in that Wiki entry should work so I think it would be better if you were to switch AV/AS back on. Shutdown ZCS and then follow that wiki entry. Just before doing that though can you telnet to port 25 on your server to see if Postfix responds ? You will also need to take a look at your logfiles aswell to see why they are being deferred. Probably because Amavisd is not running.

    Thanks,

could it simply be the sheer volume of messages coming through getting caught up in all the ones still waiting to be delivered? (783 of them)

I have been requeing them gradually back into the system and they are getting delivered now.

I will try the Clam thing tonight after work though.

Thanks again for all your help

Possible but with 700+ emails that should not take too long to clear.
