    Default External Postfix Server

    Hi!

    It's possible to use an external server running Postfix?. We have a big organization with 2100 mail user accounts and we want to reuse it.

    Regards,
    Javier

    Assuming the mail is still forwarded to Zimbra via SMTP you'll be fine. Any other routing or setup may not work. IF you can post some more specific details about what your planning we can make a more specific recommendation.

    Our current scenario:

    - One server (cluster) used as a mail server using:
    * Postfix (for smtp)
    * Courier-IMAP (for IMAP)
    * MailScanner
    * SpamAssassin

    - One server (cluster) as a WebMail IMAP Client:
    * Internal development (Java development)

    Both servers are in our offices, and we want to replace the current WebMail client servers with another product.

    I want to know if it is possible to replace the WebMail server with Zimbra, but not using the MTA module and using the user accounts created on the Postfix server.

    To connect from the WebMail server to the Postfix server, we use IMAP.

    Regards,
    Javier

    Nope. Zimbra is a mailserver. The UI requires our back end. So at the very least you'd need to migrate IMAP to Zimbra then service IMAP and the Web UI from Zimbra. You could still use your MTA/Spam stuff but not sure why you'd want to since moving that to Zimbra would allow you to centralize the config and mgmt.
