Hm, probably not a problem with the database itself then. Try running
    Code:
    zmswatchctl start

Take a look at /opt/zimbra/log/zmlogswatch.out and see if theres anything in there in terms of errors.

Only 1 entry, and is an error:
    Can't locate Swatch/Actions.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/p
    erl/5.8.8 /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/pe
    rl/5.8 /usr/share/perl/5.8 /usr/local/lib/site_perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.7 /us
    r/local/share/perl/5.8.7 .) at /tmp/.swatch_script.4326 line 29.
    BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /tmp/.swatch_script.4326 line 29.

I ran apt-get install swatch then zmswatchctl start and now snmp is running but logger still not:
    mail:/opt/zimbra/log# sudo -u zimbra /opt/zimbra/bin/zmcontrol status
    Host mail.domain.com
    antispam Running
    antivirus Running
    ldap Running
    logger Stopped
    zmlogswatchctl is not running
    mailbox Running
    mta Running
    snmp Running
    spell Running
    stats Running
    mail:/opt/zimbra/log#

Now ran zmlogswatchctl start and now an error in zmlogswatch.out about a zimbra perl module (below.) Thanks for the help so far!

    BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmlogger line 24.

Here's where I find the module:
    mail:/opt/zimbra# find . -name Common.pm
    ./zimbramon/lib/IO/Compress/Base/Common.pm
    ./zimbramon/lib/Zimbra/Util/Common.pm
    ./zimbramon/lib/HTTP/Request/Common.pm
    mail:/opt/zimbra#

Is there a missing Common.pm file or link, or is there an include path probelm? Thanks for all the help!

Maybe the path should not be "/zimbramon/lib" but "/opt/zimbra/zimbramon/lib"?

Where does the prepended "/zimbramoin/lib" in @INC path come from? I am searching /opt/zimbra for PERL5LIB env var or -I to be passed after /usr/bin/perl but cannot find anything yet.

Are you really still running 4.5.6? Has the system been recently upgraded or something? It's odd that it doesn't see that file. Can you actually look at the Common.pm file you found?

Version is in my signature. Here's my latest:
    Found it: /opt/zimbra/.bashrc
From /opt/zimbra I ran: . ./.bash_profile which didn't set PERLLIB or PERL5LIB. I then ran . ./.bashrc and the env was set. I now have all services running and no error in $ZIMBRA_HOME/log/zmlogswatch.out.

I'll check /opt/zimbra/bin/logmysql zimbra_logger in the mta table to see if there are new entries now and post the findings. Thanks for helping me help myself. I guess for now, I'll try running .bashrc in the offline backup script before starting the services again.

    Looks promising...
    running /opt/zimbra/bin/logmysql zimbra_logger and selecting
select * from mta where arrive_time > '2008-12-03 23:59:59'; shows a couple entries in the last few minutes, so I think this is the fix or workaround. We'll see at midnight when the mail report is sent; but, I'm sure this fixed the empty report issue since the mail report content seemed to jive with what I had in the mta table. (no table entries == no content in report and any day with entries had report content.)

Ah you're right, it is in your sig. I was looking in your profile information, was says 4.5.6 Glad you got it running again. It's curious that your .bashrc isn't being executed, but it could depend on how you're getting to user zimbra. Generally, I'll go to root and then over to zimbra using:

    su - zimbra

which will grab zimbra's environment and process the .bashrc. If the shell was wrong, I'd expect a lot more to be not working properly than logger.

You can also try running the report manually and that would at least show you there had been a few messages.

    Code:
    /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmdailyreport -m
