no its not a bug..
Zimbra is a complex set of tools put together and it needs regular maintainace and other stuf running in the back all the time.
if you dont need all that stuff run and do maintainace/creating reports and checking servcies that often then you can tell it to do it less often.
Just to update the thread: The bug/feature persists in 6.0.4
That would be because the bug hasn't been fixed, the one listed above has been marked as a duplicate of 38772 which is still open.

Monitoring now to see if it still spikes a few times an hour, but even if it does, I think I can live with it for now :)

Same problem here, running CentOS on VMWare ESX, Dual 2.8Ghz Xeon with 2GB Memory allocated to the Zimbra server.
