    Exclamation Recommended MACHINES PLUS OS ???

    Hi all,
    I am planing to migrate the server currently with 700 + users.
    The mailboxes data is stored on the SAN, and the SAN slice is mounted by the machine, using the NFS file system.The current Server OS is Solaris on SPARC machine.

    I had deployed the network edition of zimbra on REDHAT Linux 5.
    I will also try to deploy the open source zimbra(free/no license) on redhat and on solaris.
    Please recommend please the OS & Machines.

    Regards
    Adeel

    Use one of the flavours that is detailed in the Downloads page. With respect to machine that would very much depend on :-

    * number of users
    * their work profile
    * All IMAP/POP3/Web Client access or a mixture
    * volume of email

    So many factors and very little detail provided.

    hi all,
    The protocol used will be Https and imap+SSL i.e. 993.

    The number of users will be 750.
    Mailboxes will be stored on SAN, SAN will be mounted using NFS.
    The service will be under heavy utilization and should be up 24/7.
    Current machine for mail server is SUN v490.

    Have a read through Wiki :: Performance Tuning for Large Deployments as NFS is not advised.

    I've always thought more RAM to be a fairly simple solution. Cheaper to put in when you're building the machine as opposed to later on.
