    Default OS X Server + OpenLDAP

    I am considering using Zimbra Community Edition on my OS X Server.

    The server currently serves multiple purposes, including webserving, mail hosting, and most importantly - Open Directory Master.

    I have searched through the docs & forums but it is unclear to me if there will be a conflict with Zimbra's LDAP. Ideally, i'd like to use my current OD Master with all the defined users as the LDAP source for Zimbra, but am not sure if this is possible.

    Can someone provide some guidance on this? Thanks!

    At this time Zimbra's LDAP will run on port 389 so if your LDAP server is also on that port there will be a conflict.

    So there's no way to override that port at this point, eh? I'm a little hesitant to go messing with the OpenDirectory ports in OS X.

    Can some please give a definitive guide to manually changing the Zimbra LDAP port number. Currently this can not be done at install time as the new settings are ignored.

    I have reported a bug relating to this as it means its almost impossible to run Zimbra on a machine that is an OSX Server Directory master or replica.

    What would be nice (maybe) is for Zimbra to use the OSX Server directory as an option at install time.

    Many thanks

    The guide is painful. It'd go something like this.

    su - zimbra
    cd /opt/zimbra
    find . -exec grep 389 {} \;
    ** Edit all 389 -> NEW_PORT

    Test to see if things work. This is what we'll have to do to fix the bug, so if we had a how-to we'd just fix the bug. Your best bet is to vote on the bug to raise the priority but other than that there is no simple fix.

    Is it not possible to skip the ldap installation and use the OpenLDAP that comes with MacOSXServer?

    You can not use the OpenLDAP that comes with MacOSX Server. You must use the one Zimbra ships.

    well .. tried to vote on your bug but it comes back as a duplicate of bug # 7519.
    When I try to access that bug I get the following
    You are not authorized to access bug #7519.

    Whats the deal ?
