Welcome to the forums,
tar -xzvf file
However, since this is your first install you shouldn't be using the 5.0.6 community build from SF, as of 5.0.9 now officially build for that platform - current version on the Zimbra open source downloads page is 5.0.14.

Thanks for the reply. The install guide "http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?title=Ubuntu_8.04_LTS_Server_(Hardy_Hero n)_Install_Guide#Installing_ZCS" says to "tar -xzf zc*" which is a little different. I am not sure why.
"build from SF"
I do not know what that means..source file? (I know I am new to linux and zimbra both - sorry)
"as of 5.0.9 now officially build for that platform - current version on the Zimbra open source downloads page is 5.0.14."
Sorry what does "as of 5.0.9 mean?" Are you trying to say I should be using a later version? I am not understanding your sentence. I thought later versions were mpore like betas and should be avoided (I am used to microsoft).
"Tidbit: Franklin's the 5.0 'branch', GnR is 6.0"
I don't know what a branch is or a GNR sorry. Yep I am totally new but I will try to figure out what you are saying on my own I guess but right now sounds like Chinese
Ok. Thanks. I think I understand what he is saying now. He is saying use 5.0.9 or LATER. Ok. Will do.
