    Is it here: /etc/bind/db.amendeddomain.info ?
    Yep that's the one i thought.

    if I amend that file to look like:

    Code:
    ;
    ; BIND data file for amended.info
    ;
    $TTL    604800
    @       IN      SOA     mail.amended.info. admin.amended.info. (
                             070725         ; Serial
                             604800         ; Refresh
                              86400         ; Retry
                            2419200         ; Expire
                             604800 )       ; Negative Cache TTL
    ;
    @       IN      NS      192.168.1.112
            IN      MX      10 mail
            IN      A       192.168.1.112
    mail    IN      A       192.168.1.112
    then run the
    Code:
    dig domain.info mx
    command, it appends the rest of the domain to the line, so it looks like this: how do I stop that?

    Code:
    ;; AUTHORITY SECTION:
    arounditcyprus.info.    604800  IN      NS      192.168.1.112.arounditcyprus.info.
    OK and the good news is my setup is working now...I had an issue with my domain registrar letting go of some records.

    I appreciate your help Phoenix.

    As I mentioned earlier, it's the period at the end of the line that stops your domain name being added. I'd prefer your file looked like this:

    Code:
    yourdomain.com.         IN      NS      192.168.1.112
    yourdomain.com.         IN      MX      10 mail.yourdomain.com.
    yourdomain.com.         IN      A       192.168.1.112
    mail.yourdomain.com.    IN      A       192.168.1.112
    Regards

    Looking back I seem not to have mentioned that, I must have been thinking of another thread. My turn to apologise.
