Default Zimbra 5 Proxy + SMTP?

We have a firewall, and would like to let users outside the firewall access the Zimbra server through the proxy. (Proxy server sits outside, passes connections in, and all is well.) IMAP/IMAPS and HTTP/HTTPS installed and are working just fine, but I can't find anything in the documentation that tells me how to get SMTP/TLS proxified through.

A quick search of the forums got me this post ( but not an answer.

It almost looks from the documentation like I should be able to install Zimbra MTA on the proxy server, and have it deliver to the stores without running the MTA on the store itself - is that the correct answer here, or am I missing something obvious? (Multiple-Server Installation)

As far as I understand it, you just install the Zimbra MTA package on the proxy server and it delivers to the mailstore via lmtp. According to the docs they don't use the smtp proxying feature of nginx yet.
