    Default [SOLVED] Split-DNS: A-record in /etc/bind/db.mydomain.com

    Hello

I should set up Zimbra in a non direct mail delivery environment (downloading mails with POP3(?)/fetchmail(?)
stored in our mbox at our ISP's mailsystem to our Zimbra test environment
and do have a question concerning the /etc/bind/db.mydomain.com ....

    [/CODE]

    db.mydomain.com
    Code:
    $TTL 604800
    @ IN SOA mail.mydomain.com. hostmaster.mydomain.com. (
               2008092607 ; Serial
                             604800 ; Refresh
                              86400 ; Retry
                            2419200 ; Expire
                             604800 ) ; Negative Cache TTL
    ;
                            IN NS mail.mydomain.com.
                            IN MX 10 mail.mydomain.com.
    mail IN A 10.0.0.1

    Question:

Is "mail.mydomain.com" the fully quailfied domain name of my Zimbra-box or our dedicated
    Split-DNS-server? E.g.something like "mailtractor.lan.abcdefghi.com"
(mailtractor would be the machine name and "lan.abcdefghi.com" the
    domainname ?

Thank's a lot for any help!

    John

    PS
    - we currently have only a dyn IP from our ISP
    - we are behind NAZ/Firwall
    - IP(fix) of ZCS-box: 10.0.1.10 ( machine-name: nsizhma01 )
    - IP(fix) if Split-DNS: 10.0.1.50 ( machine-name: nsizhns01 )
    - domainname: lan.abcdefghi.com

    Yes, that would be correct.

    Question:
Should the A-record point to the IP of the Zimbra-box or to the internal DNS-server ?
    .

Thank's a lot for any help!

There really wasn't much point in starting another thread about the same subject, I've merged the two threads.

It's the IP of the Zimbra server, why would it be pointing to the DNS server?
