    Default Installation on CentOS/RHEL 4

    I am trying to check Zimbra out and it fails the install.

    I tweaked the to use 'rpm -ivv' as the command to install. Here's what happens... in the %post for core:

    * /opt/zimbra/java/bin/java -client -Xshare:dump
    Error occurred during initialization of VM
    Could not reserve enough space for object heap
    Could not create the Java virtual machine.

    I've got 256MB of RAM - what is Java trying to do? Does the -X have anything to do with X11, I have no GUI on that server...?

    Looking for anything.

    Welcome to the forums.

    The simple answer is you don't have enough memory on your system. The minimum memory requirement is 1Gb and 5Gb for disk space, the more the merrier. You could get it to run on 512Mb but it wouldn't be very good but might suffice for a testing server with low usage.

    OK thanx. Didn't realize the requirements were so steep.
