    Question Installation on multiple Servers

Hi, we are testing ZCS, it works quite well using just one server, but when we tried the distributed approach using one LDAP Server, one MTA server and one Mailbox Store server, the messages do not travel anywhere.....
I sent from an outside email, no bounce errors but no message appears in my zimbra mailboxes, I sent from Zimbra and nothing arrives to an external account.

Any ideas ? or where can I find any documentation about how to configure the distributed servers approach other than the nice diagram ? (a step by step guideline would be nice)

Thanks and congratulations for a great email product.

Did you reinstall using the installer? install.sh should allow you to pick what runs on each host. The first host should have LDAP and then each other host should refer to it when you are asked where LDAP runs.

Did you check /var/log/zimbra.log on the MTA host to see if postfix got the mail? If so then check /opt/zimbra/tomcat/catalina.out on the mailbox host to see if the mailbox got the message.

Yes, we installed the servers using the script starting with LDAP server, MTA and Mailbox servers in that order. The others pointing ldap to the server.

I was looking through all the /var/log/zimbra.log and the common error in each server is:

    connection refused by [127.0.0.1]

    in the MTA server:

status=deferred (lost connection with 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1] while sending RCPT TO)

    in the Mailbox Server:

    sendmail [15574]: .... stat=Deferred: Connection refused by [127.0.0.1]

looks as each server is trying to contact localhost for any Zimbra services

in the catalina.out log there are no error messages just the Server Startup.

    Default sendmail

Make sure sendmail is shut down on all the servers, then restart all the instances of the postfix mta.

    Default /etc/hosts

CHeck your /etc/hosts file - make sure that the line with the servername on it is not 127.0.0.1, but the actual server IP.

If you have to change this file on any servers, you'll need to rerun iptables:

    as root:
    /opt/zimbra/bin/zmiptables -u
    /opt/zimbra/bin/zmiptables -i

sendmail is not running on any server, the message I talked about is in the /var/log/zimbra.log.

I checked the /etc/hosts in every server and it only contains:

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    200.x.x.x serverx.mailweb.xxx.xxx.xx

I did rerun the zmiptables command just to be sure and rebooted all the servers, but still no mail received or sent.
The actual configuration we have is:

    zimbra4 LDAP server
    zimbra2 MTA server
    zimbra Mailbox Store server
    zimbra3 Mailbox Store server

I just tried sending a message from an external email and this is what the zimbra.log has in the MTA server:

May with this you can help me. (sorry if the log is too long).
