    Default mysql

    Maybe a dumb question but...

I need to install a mysql database on the box on which I have zimbra. If I install mysql will it interfere with or otherwise blow up the mysql that comes as part of zimbra?

No, it doesn't interfere with Zimbra as it uses non-standard ports. It's not, however, recommended to install any other applications on the Zimbra server as it may impose an unacceptable load on the system.
