Default ZCS as exchange 2007 OWA proxy

I operate out of a remote office without VPN connectivity. Today my company runs an Exchange 2007 server with OWA enabled. I would like to use Zimbra Desktop, T-bird with Lightning or Evolution on my Ubuntu 9.10 desktop to access and synchronize my Calendar and email. Can I run ZCS as a local server on my desktop as a proxy between Exchange 2007 OWA and one of these clients or the Zimbra desktop client?
Imap directly from the client to the server is not workable as I also access through a linux laptop and an android Exchange client on my handset and the synchronization doesn't work well.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

    Welcome to the forums

If you are having issues connecting from your client to the server using IMAP then the problem sounds like it is on the server side; and installing ZCS is not really going to help. That is probably why the Admins have enabled OWA.
