    Default server status fail

fresh install of zimbra 6.0.6 on sles 10 32bit, I've done three of these all w/ out a hitch untill now. When i log onto the admin page it says all my services are dead, however if i do a
    zmcontrol status
it says everything is running. I can also send a email out bound, in bound not so much but i think my mx record might still be coming around.

I seen some other posts on here about re keying the ssl cert and tried that w/ no success.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    many thanks,
    matt

    Hi Matt,

Have you looked at your logger services and ensured that you have sufficient previledges?

    Try running '/opt/zimbra/libexec/zmfixperms' if necessary...

    Cheers

I think it is something to do w/ the logger. upon your suggestion i found this

all the command they had me try at the bottom have pretty much failed, if someone thinks they are relevant in fixing this i'll post them. I also tried reseting the permissions like suggested w/ no differents.

    thanks

Hey guys... I found this one. I'm going to be trying it this evening, as my server is showing a not-so-nice "Server status data is not available" when I log into my admin console... Hope it works - will keep you posted.

    Hi Matt,

I am running Ubuntu 8.0.4 LTS, so yes, I realise that mine may be slightly different to yours, but I was experiencing the same issue where if I ran "zmcontrol status", it would show everything as running, but when I went into the admin console, the "Server Status" page (default on login) would give me "Server status data is not available..." and not even show me anything else. I have stopped all the services on my logger server, including stopping syslog service manually, by running "killall syslogd". Then I ran "/opt/zimbra/libexec/zmfixperm" as root. Once this completed, I started syslogd via "/sbin/syslogd -r -m 0 -u syslog" and then started all the zimbra services.

    Viola. Mine works.

I hope that I didn't misunderstand your situation? Hope this helps you.

so i think my trouble is starting during install.

    Starting servers...done.
    Installing common zimlets...
    com_zimbra_bulkprovision...done.
    com_zimbra_cert_manager...done.
    com_zimbra_date...done.
    com_zimbra_email...done.
    com_zimbra_url...done.
    com_zimbra_ymemoticons...done.
    com_zimbra_local...done.
    com_zimbra_phone...done.
    com_zimbra_adminversioncheck...done.
    Finished installing common zimlets.
    Initializing Documents...done.
    Restarting mailboxd...done.
Setting up zimbra crontab...cp: cannot stat `/var/spool/cron/tabs/zimbra': No such file or directory
    done.

    Moving /tmp/zmsetup.06022010-105103.log to /opt/zimbra/log

Configuration complete - press return to exit
is being this is a older version of sles would i be better off starting w/ a older version of zimbra and upgrading it? as a reminder I'm running sles 10 sp3 32 bit

I think you are correct about the install being where it started... Have you tried upgrading to the same version? Does '/var/spool/cron/tabs/zimbra' exist? Have you tried to manually create it if it doesn't? What are your permissions on this folder (check as root)? What do you get if you 'su - zimbra' and then 'crontab -l'?

I don't think the sles version is going to make a difference, as long as you downloaded the correct package from Zimbra for that sles version (ie. the SuSEES10 version).

Have you checked elsewhere in the forums for the error you had during installation? That may be something to check first.

i did try inplace upgrading to the same version, i get the same error.

/var/spool/cron/tabs/zimbra does exist. here are the permissions as root
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3285 Jun 2 11:18 zimbra

permission is dening me to see it as zimbra
doing a "crontab -l" su to zimbra results in printing out the zimbra crontab

This is on a virtual server so jumped back a few snapshots and reran the install.sh from scratch and get the same error. I'll keep searching, thanks!
