Question [SOLVED] Upgrade from 5.0.9 to 6.0.7

    Hi,

I've an old Zimbra server, and I would like to upgrade it to the last version of ZCS (OS edition).
Can I directely upgrade using the 6.0.7 package or is there intermediary steps?

    Thanks.

Please update your forum profile with the output of the following command (do not post the output here):

    Code:
    zmcontrol -v

You won't need to do any intermediate steps but I'd suggest you also read the Release Notes to see if there's anything that may affect your upgrade, it also has details of which versions you can upgrade from and to.

I'll do it after the upgrade, thanks.

I was reading it, but I've often experienced issues when upgrading (other softwares), so I wanted to be sure.

Thanks a lot for your quick response.

Oh, I remember I had disabled the antivirus module, due to Clamav being outdated.
Should I enable it before the upgrade and restart zimbra with the error telling me it can't enable Clamav, or should I enable it afterward?

    Thanks

That's nat a good reason to disable it, an outdated version is still better than than no a/v module.

I'd enable it before you the upgrade and obviously you should take a full backup of the /opt/zimbra directory structure before you do the upgrade (details in the wiki on backup articles).

    Thanks!

Note: Zimbra was refusing to send mails to the accounts because Clamav was outdated. And as I expected to make this upgrade soon, I didn't bother to install a new version of Clamav.

Alright, I'm just making this update to explain what I've done.

As the update doesn't seem to install default Zimlets when Zimbra is shutdown, I had to upgrade Clamav to have Zimbra running all services.
It is explained here : ClamAV - Updating Version - Zimbra :: Wiki
I did a test on a virtual server without doing this step, and the server wasn't running all services after the upgrade.

Then I used the common upgrade process and it ran smoothly. However, don't forget to use the screen program, because the upgrade is very slow.
