    Default [SOLVED] CentOS???

I've been hearing that CentOS is a good replacement for Red Hat Enterprise when it comes to installing zimbra.

Which version of CentOS is best compatible with ZCS 6.0.7?

Ubuntu is a good choice if you're looking for a free choice.

Otherwise vote for this enhancement request for CentOS support.

I have zimbra server running on CentOS 5.5 64bit and 32bit arround 3 years, and never got a problem that can not be resolved.

    CentOS is the right choice

While CentOS may work flawlessly, it's still not supported by Zimbra... and (especially) if you're using the Network Edition and call in support for anything, they can turn you down right away for not running on a supported OS.

    Better safe than sorry...

I know that CentOS is not supported by zimbra, and I just wanted to say what I have done and experience, I think everyone knows about it.

But if you're use the NE should be asked to support a commercial "what is a good OS for zimbra?"

    Cheers...

I installed CentOS 5.5 this morning with zimbra 6.0.7. Everything seemed to go perfectly until at the end the following zimlets failed to install

    com_zimbra_phone...failed.
    com_zimbra_email...failed.
    com_zimbra_dnd...failed.
    com_zimbra_url...failed.

Any ideas? I installed zimbra successfully on Fedora 11 before......But I heard how stable CentOS is so I decided to switch. I read a a lot online about how a lot of people have had zimbra on CentOS5 without any issues.

    any ideas?

oooh the religious war that is linux distributions
Picking a linux distro for your computer is a personal choice, use whatever works for you.

However, picking a linux distro for a server that needs to "just work" and run only one task, and sit largely ignored while it's doing it..... that's not a personal choice, it's a business one.

If you want a free distro, pick Ubuntu, if you want to pay, pick RHEL.
It's kind of that simple really. You may want to run it on centos, but it it falls over due to a yum update, do you really want to spend time fixing it becuase zimbra's support team dont know the problem?

Are those zimlets really that important? Zimbra appears to be working fine and I'm able to send/receive mail perfectly...and my stats are functioning unlike in Fedora 11 (no one was able to help with that....so I switched distros)
