    Default DNS ERROR durring install

    Hello,
durring the installation i get the following. I dont understand why Zimbra is having issues properly resolving the domain name. Below it should show that the name should be resolving just fine. Thanks for any help

DNS ERROR resolving MX for mail.rndcomputing.com
It is suggested that the domain name have an MX record configured in DNS
    Re-Enter domain name? [Yes]

Reread the error, and you'll see that's it's not finding the MX record for that host.

Second - this is a DNS check, and none of the things you posted (ifconfig, ping, cat /etc/hosts) has anything to do with DNS.

it turns out the MX record had been already set

    -bash-2.05b$ host -t mx rndcomputing.com
    rndcomputing.com mail is handled by 10 mail.rndcomputing.com.

The machine is currently in the colo with the machine that's hosting the DNS record and is set to use that machine in resolv.conf. I dont know why it would still spit this error out.
