    Question Failing installation

Thanks a lot Klug. I changed my hostname to match the name in /etc/hosts.

The dns is working such that it is master to mail.mydomain.com. I have installed bind9 for that purpose, and I am using zimbra 4.0.3

I came a little bit down the way. This time I get some other errors instead:

Could these errors still be related to DNS issues ?

Any idea or suggestions how to solve these errors ?

    Thanks again, Daniel Mersebak

    Default Ldap

    Hi Guys,

I am having a pain finding a good messaging collaborative suite for linux. I was wondering if anyone can help me out I would like to install Zimbra but we are already using LDAP on our server, is there a way you can extend the schema for zimbra and use current LDAP server?

    Thanks in advance.

Default Ubuntu Edgy - ldap configuration errors

For some reason edgy made the default shell (/bin/sh) point to dash instead of bash. Apparently they are not quite the same, which causes the ldap initialization to fail. Since I was installing this on a VMWare VM, I could get away with

    sudo rm /bin/sh
    sudo ln -s /bin/bash /bin/sh

then uninstalling zimbra and reinstalling it. Now the installation works fine after following this fine guide.

Question Automatic spam training filter with the Junk folder

    Hi All,

This is my first post to zimbra after giving up on how to enable automatic spam training by moving the spam/junk mail to junk folder.
I have been looking around in the forum for cases like mine but it's to no avail.

I am running zimbra-4.0.4 on Ubuntu drake dapper 6.06 TLS.
Everything works fine except the filter. I Have followed the doc @ http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?title=Zimbra_MTA
    regarding the automatic spam training.

The tests I have done to test out is as follows:

    1. Train the SA and dspam with the corpuses for about 2000 msgs for both ham & spam until the DSPAM status for " TL Training Left" is 0 .
    SC Spam Corpusfed: 2222
    IC Innocent Corpusfed: 6514
    TL Training Left: 0
    SR Spam Catch Rate: 100.00%

    2. Create a testing account (A) and send a testing "spam" mail to (A)
    3. (A) doest regard the incoming mail as spam, so I drag over the mail to junk folder
    4. After waiting for a while, I run the command below
    /opt/zimbra/bin/zmtrainsa >> /opt/zimbra/log/spamtrain.log 2>&1

    5. The spamtrain.log always results in

[] INFO: Total messages processed: 0
[] INFO: Total messages processed: 0
    Learned from 0 message(s) (0 message(s) examined).
    Learned from 0 message(s) (0 message(s) examined).

    6. If I manually send the spam account, created automatically during zimbra installation" or spam account returned after running
"zmprov gcf zimbraSpamIsSpamAccount" and run step 4, the result for step 5 is not 0.

Hence, What do I miss out that the automatic spam filter doesn't work ? What log information to verify in order to troubleshoot this ?
I also scan the /opt/zimbra/log folder for changes after moving the spam to junk folder but there are no suspicious errors.

Look forward to any replies on this, thanks !

Moving messages to the Junk folder just moves the messages to the junk folder.

Selecting messages and pressing the "Junk" button in the toolbar should use the messages to train the spam filter.

Default Zimbra is shutdowning randomly ...

Why is Zimbra shutdowning some services at any time ?
    I'm running Ubuntu Dapper LTS.

This morning I did 'zmcontrol status' :

    Code:
    zimbra@grass:~$ zmcontrol status
    Host axyz.domain.com
            ldap Running
            logger Running
            mailbox Stopped
                    tomcat is not running
            mta Stopped
                    zmsaslauthdctl is not running
            snmp Running
            spell Running
As you can see, I had to do 'zmcontrol start' manually to restart these services.

But the problem: it's not the first time, but it happens quite often: about 3-4 times a week!!!

I'm thinking that Zimbra is not absolutely stable.

    Default Errors in logfiles?

Are there any errors in the logfiles? Or does it just silently exit?
