Can anyone else help us out?

    Tar up /opt/zimbra on Server1

move it to Server2 and untar and access email like normal.
It will be a different hostname and IP.

So Server1 has live email and Server2 has a stale copy of Server1 that can be accessed.

Well, your first problem is going to be tarring up.
This has caused a lot of problems for some of our forum members.

We(being some of us mods) don't reccommend tarring up. Rather, rsync is a better solution.

    rsync -av /opt/zimbra [target location]

Then, go to the wiki on how to change the hostname.
IP Address shouldn't matter as much, but the hostname might.

Default I got it up just cant see mail

Well with my tar version I have gotten zimbra up and made a new admin account.
So I am able to log in and see my users and see the megs of mail per user.
However, when I try to actually view mail of a member to test it , it goes to the server1 and doesn't stay on server2. I am assuming this is the mailserver url and can I change that?

I have used the example in the other thread to change hostname but it didnt appear to make a difference or at least stick with a restart.

So I not sure if rsync would make any difference now. The biggest problem is getting into the mail.

Is it just not possible ?

I just want a snap shot of zimbra moved to a different server and then able to use the snapshot independently?

It really is not a good idea to change the hostname.

    My suggestion is still http://www.zimbra.com/forums/showpos...3&postcount=17
