Default Installed - Fails to receive messages

During the setup, I set the name to my domain.tld (excluded the hostname). As well I created a domain when asked during setup of the same domain.tld.

I can send, but get the following on a receive:

Oct 26 17:23:45 wings postfix/lmtp[11182]: 374B8BCC661: to=, relay=none, delay=0, status=bounced (Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=domain.tld type=A: Host found but no data record of requested type)

    What am/did I do wrong?

    Thanks,

Seems like a DNS issue. Do you have a valid DNS record setup both A and Mx?

Yes and No. The Zimbra system is behind a firewall its physical IP is different than the DNS entry.

    Workaround?

Well Zimbra needs to be able to find itself via DNS. So if you run:

    nslookup `hostname`

Do you get an IP that will point back to your host? Does this match what's in your /etc/hosts? If not you may have a problem with the iptables which we base on the /etc/hosts entry.

a lookup resolves to the outside address, as I expected.

Is there a "guide" to setting up zimbra behind a firewall?

What is in your /etc/hosts? If you set this to the local IP then you should be fine. This is what our docs and the rest of the posts on the forums suggest.

Note: This issue is resolved for me

However, putting the "internal" ip (vs. the external/public IP) in the /etc/hosts file doesn't work, as postfix uses DNS only and doesn't reference the local host file.

I had to setup a internal dns server that contains the ip addresses of the system within the dmz...

After doing that it started correctly finding "itself" to receive the e-mails.
