Default Installation on existing box with Sendmail/MySQL/Apache

    Hello folks,

I'm very interested in installing Zimbra on our web/mail server but we already have 3 domains running on apache, using Mysql 4, and Sendmail with Dovecot for IMAP.

Is there a way to setup Zimbra so that our webapps can still send mail via the sendmail executable, and migrate the current users we have? The amount of mailboxes is only 5.

Tried to do this yesterday, but keep getting stuck on setting port numbers throught the menu, and then having to quit out.

    Many thanks!

The problem is sendmail, Zimbra needs port 25 available. Apache is the othe service that has a port conflict, you can modify zimbra to use another port instead of 80 but it will need port 25.

    Thanks Bill,

So...what should we do with our php applications that send mail via the sendmail binary? Can we still use this, or will we have to redirect them to Zimbra? If we have to redirect, is there a simple and standard way to do this?

Is sendmail running as a service? If it is I think you should be able to disable it and modify your php script to call the sendmail executable, that should be able to pass the mail to zimbra or external smtp for delivery.

Sorry, I missed the fact that you're running dovecot. That will also cause problems, you'll need to disable that as well. What I've said may not be the best method. Are you intending to replace this setup with zimbra?

How can I keep my old MySQL server? It has important stuff running off of it, and we simply can't disable it or apache.

MySQL isn't a problem, the zimbra MySQL instance runs on a non-standard port.

I see...so I can leave the current installation of MySQL running? There will be no impact?

Okay...have Zimbra installed and working now. Our old web apps like vbulletin and joomla no longer work anymore, presumambly due to something being different now with MySQL. Any ideas?
