    Default Zimbra Re-install

    Hi,

I have re-installed zimbra, since I was not getting the services to start up. I have uninstalled it, cleaned up the temp and re-installed again, but still I am getting the same problem. Can anybody tell me how can I kill the processes after the uninstall. Here is my log file after the re-install.

Are you on FC4 and trying to install the FC3 build? If looks like you'll need to look at this.

Please help. I am thinking I should retire from installing this anymore.

Did you create the symlinks? You can verify it's working by running:

    ldd /opt/zimbra/openldap/sbin/slappasswd

If any files show as not found then you should fix that before you continue. Of course you could always just install FC3 and it might make things easier.

This is the problem. Those are also the same errors that were in the install log the first time around.

They occur because FC4 uses different libraries than FC3. You said you modified the /etc/hosts file as described in the post Kevin made, did you also make the links in /lib the post spoke about? The above might occur if those links didn't exist. You would need to do the following, as mentioned in http://www.zimbra.com/forums/faq.php...faq_install_1:
    Code:
    cd /lib
    ln -s libcrypto.so.0.9.7f libcrypto.so.4
    ln -s libssl.so.0.9.7f libssl.so.4
After doing the above, you'll have to completely shut down all Zimbra related processes, and do a reinstall of Zimbra.

    Howdy,

To add the links, it's exactly how it says in the post above. You can just type these next three commands (as root):

    Code:
    cd /lib
    ln -s libcrypto.so.0.9.7f libcrypto.so.4
    ln -s libssl.so.0.9.7f libssl.so.4
Typing the above will solve your library problem.

Now, you need to reinstall Zimbra.

First, uninstall Zimbra by typing the following from your Zimbra install dir:

    ./install.sh -u

    That uninstalls Zimbra.

    Now, type:

    ps -ef | grep zimbra

That shows a list of all running processes that are related to Zimbra. If you are lucky, there will be none at all. But, we're not always so lucky :-) So, if there are some there, simply type:

    kill -9 XYZ

Where XYZ is the process id (pid) of the process in question. The pid is the second column of information in the output of the 'ps' command you just typed.

    Have a good one,
    -Eric
