Secondary Mail Server
We are using Zimbra opensource edition for last few years. Some times, we have some server hardware issues or other file system crass issues comes in, In that time we face lot difficulties to restore the mails to the new server and it took nearly a week to comfort with new server.
My Question, How can we setup a secondary Mail Server for our zimbra server. We need to update secondary server every end of the day or some period. So If the primary server down, Users should be automatically able to redirect or pull the mailboxes from secondary server without any delay.
Kindly advice us to do this secondary setup using zimbra ?
Thanks in advance !!!!!!

Thank you for the response,
Yes we can handle it by DNS for redirection while the primary server down. But, We need to move all primary server data to 2ndary servery manually know ? that will not be possible if the primary server crashed heavily in hardward.
So, We need to do this sinking process by some procedure, both the server should have current live boxes (mail).
I would start by setting up the 2nd server with the same OS and version of Zimbra as you are using on your primary. Then I would setup a 'cron' job that uses something like 'rsync' to sync the two servers. You would want everything in the /opt/zimbra directory to be synced. You could do something like 'rsync' the /opt/zimbra directory, stop the Zimbra services, do a 2nd rsync to be sure that you got all open files, then start the Zimbra services back up. The two passes, one with services started and the other when they are stopped should minimize downtime. If you ever had to put the secondary server on-line you would just need to change the host-name and IP address of the server to match your primary. I'm pretty sure there is info on this type of setup both in the forums and Wiki.
Just an observation, but if you are having frequent hardware issues and file system corruption on your primary server the first thing that I would do is fix / replace the primary server. Not that having a second, backup server ready to go is a bad idea, but it sounds like this is a common occurrence.
