    Default 4.5 /opt/zimbra/backup dir

Seems like a new directory has found it's way into /opt/zimbra/backup called 4.5.0_GA. I checked the admin guide for info on it, but didn't find it.

Wondering if can be deleted after the upgrade/install to 4.5?

    Thanks.

AFAIK, it contains the full/incr backups prior to your upgrade... Though also, AFAIK, they are not compatible with 4.5...

Too much space is also why I'd like to delete it. I haven't had time to take a good look at it yet.

Then, you might want to query to see how many backups are in there by running:
    zmbackupquery

It will display how many are in there.

To make things easier, you just might want to run a:

    zmbackup -del 1d

That will delete any backups that are older than 1 day. That should free up some space.

Not to contradict, but I think the folder everyone is referring to is the backup folder that gets generated during the 4.5.x upgrade. It includes all backups prior to the 4.5 release. My understanding (and I could be completely wrong) is those backups don't do squat for you once the system is upgraded and can be safely removed since they aren't in the 4.5.x backup index.

Yes, as long as you have safely upgraded this directory CAN be deleted.

Whenever the Backup format changes, the previous backups are invalidated and the installer moves them out of the way. We purposely don't delete them in case the upgrade fails and someone didn't archive off to a separate location.

The same is done for the redolog directory.

    Sweet. I'll delete it then.

First time I've seen an upgrade create a directory in there.

    Thanks for the follow up.
