    Default Cannot determine services

I am having trouble with dns resolve issue, I read other thread on forums but enough differences to not fully translate, and I am a newbie at linux command line.

this is a CentOs box, this is localhost.zone file can anyone make any sense of either of these? When I run zmcontrol stop, systems appear to stop but when I run zmcontrol status I get 'cannot determine services - exiting' these files I edited to insert machines static ip. Not sure if that was the correct thing to do?

    $TTL 86400
    @ IN SOA @ root (
    42 ; serial (d. adams)
    3H ; refresh
    15M ; retry
    1W ; expiry
    1D ) ; minimum

    IN NS @
    IN A 208.67.250.133
    IN AAAA ::1

    and localdomain.zone

    $TTL 86400

    3H ; refresh
    15M ; retry
    1W ; expiry
    1D ) ; minimum
    IN NS localhost
    localhost IN A 208.67.250.133

Well, if you're getting the cannot determine services error, then that means LDAP isn't started or it can't connect.

You should run a zmlocalconfig and look at the configuration.
The master should probably be set to true, and the host should be the name of the box.

    Let's start there

Master is set to false, how do I change this? Sorry for my ignorance.

    Great!
Now, let's try to start the servers.

    Let's see how it goes.

Here's what I'm going to suggest.
Let's delete zimbra and start from scratch.
Run ./install.sh -u and remove zimbra completely.

Next, we need to take a look at your hosts file. Zimbra uses the hostfile with DNS to talk to itself.

    cat /etc/hosts

    John,

took me a minute to navigate around.

    Removing deployed webapp directories

    Removing /opt/zimbra
    [root@marlin zcs]# cat /etc/hosts
    # Do not remove the following line, or various programs
    # that require network functionality will fail.
    #127.0.0.1 marlin.realmarketing.net marlin localhost.localdomain
    #localhost

    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    208.67.250.173 marlin.realmarketing.net
