Default MTA Auth host in multi-server installation

Documentation says that "MTA Auth host" must be one of the mailbox servers.

There are different answers in documentation, forum and wiki but no one clear for me.

    - If I have different mail-store that use the same MTA, which one I must I insert in "MTA Auth host"?

    - Why I must insert a mail-store and not a ldap server?

    Thank you.

    If this is correct:

I think the documentation might be updated to become better
