    Default Error during installling zimbra-spell-3.0.0_M2_740.FC3-20051114171941.i386.rpm

I'm having trouble installing Zimbra on Fedora Core 1.
When I use the ./install.sh command it works, but when it gets to zimbra-spell-3.0.0_M2_740.FC3-20051114171941.i386.rpm the installation gives me an error and after that I get the message that the installation is cancelled.

Can anybody help me with this problem??

Hi..FC 1 is not the supported OS version to really try.
You should try FC 3 as per Zimbra docs and people had sucess with FC 4 also.

your /tmp/ folder has your install logs if you post them then someone can figure out whats wrong..but again first try on FC3

That is HOSTS file problem 99%
Your HOSTS file should look like this
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    # Do not remove the following line, or various programs
    # that require network functionality will fail.

    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx myserver.mydomain.com myserver

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    * 2nd line is NOT important unless you have your HOSTNAME to static ip without DNS. If you have hostname to STATIC IP then make use its on NEXT line to LOCALHOST and LOCALHOST *is* on first line by itself

I'd recommend you run install.sh -u then run "ps -ef | grep zimbra" and kill any remaining processes. Then run install.sh again.

if you have all prerequisites then your install will go ok..

    * Other people had same issues..read this if you want more info

"ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: getDirectContext) (cause: javax.naming.CommunicationException zimbra:389)" ...not again

did you run yum update on FC3 before installing.
i had this issues i could not figureout for my life why LDAP wont connect on port 389

but same FC4 after yum update worked..so i suggest you try on FC3 full update using yum and reinstall again.

just my thought..my thoughts may be slow on this as i did not put LDAP in my coffee..lol...just kidding..

try yum update and reinstall fresh zimbra and see if it works..

    back to work

Emperor Angel and I seem to be on the same page. I managed to get through my install, but I am getting the same error:
ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: getDirectContext) (cause: javax.naming.CommunicationException zimbra.domain.com:389)

What is yum update? I have no 'yum' command.

I went through the up2date utility via RedHat and updated a BUNCH of stuff. Uninstalled Zimbra, made sure the /opt/zimbra dir was deleted and reinstalled. Got same message:

ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: getDirectContext) (cause: javax.naming.CommunicationException zimbra.domain.com:389)

If you use another name then the default (localhost.localdomain), you have to write this into your /etc/hosts

Look at this thread, I had this problem too.
