    Default slapd won't start...?

    Hi,

I've installed Zimbra on a SuSe 10.0 System.
    hostfile set up.
    split DNS set up.
    no port conflicts

I always receive an ldap error while finalizing the config.

    I tried zmfixperms, no effect.

    Any hints?

    Regards,

    Sascha

    Welcome to the forums.

You've likely got a dns problem, have a look in the wiki for troubleshooting LDAP startup failure. You should also search the forums for some debugging info on your DNS setup. Was there anything useful in the install logs about the problem?
    Regards

    Bill

    Hi Bill.

    Thx for taking care.

I looked into the wiki. When I did sh -x bin/ldap start, it started.
But zmcontrol status brings 'Cannot determine services - exiting'.

When I try to start tomcat, I receive: 'ERROR: problem reading config from ldap. Make sure ldap is running.'
    ldap IS running.

DNS seems to work correct, as far as I checked with 'host, nslookup, etc..'

The install logging I haven't found, actually..

    Default After reinstall...

    Hi.

I thought, maybe i screwed something during my trials...
So I uninstalled the whole thing using 'install.sh -u' and reinstalled everything.
    This is the outcome:

    Creating SSL certificate...Done
    Initializing ldap...sudo: /etc/sudoers is mode 0640, should be 0440

Have you tried checking the permissions with
    Code:
    ls -l /etc/sudoers
There is also a known problem with sudoers, it's in bugzilla here.

    Hi!

Sorry for the delay, your answer came when I went home.
    Then the weekend applied...

It seems to be the 'sudoers' problem. When I change to 0440 and run the setup script again, something changes it 'automagically' to 0640 again!

The information in Bugzilla and other topics like that didn't help really.
Or maybe I didn't understood them.

How can I avoid the problem?

    Regards,

    Sascha

what is the script get_plat_tag.sh (/opt/zimbra/libexec, maybe) returning?

If that doesn't return SuSE, this happens

It returns 'SuSE10', which is correct.
