    Default Problems with fresh open source installation

    I've done everything I did before on RC1 but for some reason when I run the install it give me the following:
    Checking for prerequisites...
    NPTL...FOUND
    libidn...FOUND libidn-0.5.15-1
    curl...FOUND curl-7.13.1-3
    fetchmail...FOUND fetchmail-6.2.5-7
    gmp...FOUND gmp-4.1.4-6
    /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5...MISSING

    There is no install log. Could someone help?

    Need to update/install that pkg. Just run yum install for Fedora, or up2date for Red Hat EL.

    Hi ..
    compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.fc4.i386.rpm has libstdc++.so.5 you looking for, i installed this RPM on FC 4 and prerequisite was met..

    http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/se...tdc%2B%2B.so.5
    Above link will give you RPM's of diff distros for libstdc++.so.5

    I did the following to fix this problem:

    cd to /usr/lib

    ln -s libstdc++.so.6.0.3 libstdc++.so.5

    Maybe I cheated a little bit but it seemed to work for me.

    I don't know what if any ABI changes were made between v5 and v6, but, in general, symlinking C++ libraries like this, that were possibly built with different compiler versions, is a very very bad thing. Please install the appropriate compat-libstdc++ package for your distro.
