I spent all day trying to get Zimbra working on a debian 4 install. I followed all of the instructions I found here in the forums. But I continue to have ldap problems.
I put a bind9 server on so that all of my A and MX records are correct. But no matter what I did, the ldap server that comes with zimbra would never start running.
So, then I installed an LDAP server before installing zimbra. It is up and running. I gave it my host.domain.com name. And a set a password. Now, zimbra still will not connect to it, I keep getting authorization errors.
I am new to the ldap thing, so I really don't know how to go about solving this. When I installed ldap I gave a password of (lets say 'abcdef'). Is this the password I give zimbra? Or, do I need to set up an account in the ldap server for zimbra? Also, do I need to make a key of some sort for zimbra, or give zimbra the key that was created during the ldap install?
I would really like to give zimbra a shot so I can show it my bosses. We are looking to move away from Exchange Server.
Thanks for any help.
