Mail didn't delivered ..
I'm a newbie in Zimbra..I had problem in sending the mails. The configuration is done succesfully..i guess..but when i tried to send an email it didnt delivered to the receiver. It said connection timed out in the mail queue...
What should i do..
I'm also a newbie.... But I would suggest that you check connectivity to the remote host on port 25. (telnet <remotemailhost> 25).
check your global (and the individual server) mta settings in the admin console
post what it says for webmail MTA & relay MTA for external delivery
(is box at a company such as godaddy? -they have an outbound relay mta you must use (many isp's do as well)
post the contents of your /etc/hosts file
enable DNS lookups in the admin console-it's a checkbox
do a dig mx domain.com
Here is the details on the global settings in the Admin console:
Webmail MTA hostname : localhost
Relay MTA : blank
MTA trusted Network : blank
Enable DNS lookups : checked
The reply about telnet would be the solution. You don't have access from the Zimbra machine out to another mail server. That's why it's timing out.
When an MTA sends mail it looks up the MX record out of DNS to see where it should go and then connects to the machine to send the message.
SMTP is TCP based so you should be able to use telnet to port 25 (the SMTP port) and get a connection. This when this times out it's a sign that there is no route. Normally a router or firewall config issue.
You can use the dig command to find the MX record of the reciever.
Thanks 2 all..
I can successfully send n receive msg now. But I can only send & receive mails from inside my network.. when i try to send to the outside mail, an error ocurred..
My problem solved...
